I went on the 7 Hour Excursion with Embera Tours, at first I was unsure if the price was worth it. But after our time was up we didn’t want to leave. We had such an amazing time learning about the tribe, and the culture. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Panama!
Raissa and Bill make a great pair! They arranged for, and picked us up and drove us to the Sloth Sanctuary and Zipline jungle adventure. They had great communication before and during the adventure, weee. Wry prompt, and helped with buying tickets. It was a nice 1/2 day.
Bill was awesome!!! He's extremely friendly and outgoing. Seems like everyone in Panama knows him. When we were hungry, he brought us to a great restaurant and waited for us. He is polite, funny and knows this country very well. The ultimate tour guide!
If you are up for meeting people who are still trying to keep their Indigenous roots in the ways they always have, then this is the tour for you. There is a chance to immerse yourself as fully or as cursory as you feel comfortable visiting local waterfalls along the river, and an Embera village where you will eat the delicious food, learn about their ways of living and watching/participating in their dances and songs. Be sure to bring some money to purchase something from their craft shop as goods sold are a fundraiser for the community - but they are too kind to tell you that and will not push you as some vendors do.
